What is
Active4Surf?
Active4Surf was developed as a project with the goal of providing a more dedicated surf training, that is carefully planned and comprehensive, to help you improve your technical level.
Our surf teachers have more than 20 years of experience teaching in the area. With people graduated in Physical Education and Sports and accredited by the Portuguese Surfing Federation, our team is well qualified to teach all surfing levels.
Our philosophy is that it is not just about standing, but about identifying the many specific skills that underlie the sport.
Active4Surf is a surf training facility and spa that aims to provide unique training weeks and experiences, aimed at small groups of people who want to spend focussed time improving their surf skills and technique.
The facility offers specialised surf-based functional training equipment, coaching and exercises, surf theory lessons, spa centre, as well as complimentary fitness and physical activities – including indoor climbing wall and massage space.
Functional training equipment and exercises offer the opportunity to practise the body movements and positions required in surfing – in a controlled environment, with direct supervision, instruction and correction from experienced surf teachers.

Rodrigo
Events General Manager
Originally from south of Brazil, started as a surfing instructor in 2006.
After a number of trips and different kinds of events manager works around the world, was moved to Sagres at 2008, spend some time back in Brazil, and went back at this year to work with Active4Surf.
Alex
Program Manager
Originally from Sagres, the ocean has always been present in my life.
Started surfing in 2007. Graduated in Philosophy, decided after that to dedicate fully to surfing, teaching the sport and sharing the passion for it.
Pedro
Events Manager
Pedro Villarinho originally from Lisbon with Physical Education & Scholar Sport degree and the surf coach licence (Level 2), approved by the Portuguese Surfing Federation.
22 years since surfing and windsurfing experience.
Surf coach since 2018.
Pedro was a Head Coach in several schools in Lisbon, before embrace this project.
Rafa
Sports Director &
Events Coordinator
Originally from Brazil, I have been in love with surfing since 1985. In 1999 moved to Portugal and became a professional surf coach level 1 in 2003 licensed by FMH University in Lisbon.
Since then, worked for ISS and also as an invited coach to surf workshops as O'Neill grommets (2003), Billabong Girls (2007,08,09) amongst several others from different surf clubs in different universities.
In 2021 finished a post graduation in Surf Performance at Lusófona University also in Lisbon (level 2).

Degree in Sports Science (2004).
Surfer since 1996, Surf Instructor since 2004.
With International Surf School since 2014.
Organizer of the Maldives Training Camp, with International Surf school in 2023
